VEHICLE ENGINEER

We are looking to recruit Vehicle Engineers at our Westbourne Park Bus Garage. 

Successful candidates must have excellent core skills that are relevant to their trade and will also have detailed vehicle maintenance knowledge. The knowledge and experience would have been ideally gained through extensive working experience of commercial or passenger carrying vehicles. A time-served apprenticeship and appropriate qualifications, such as an NVQ level 3 or City & Guilds level 3 is desirable. The successful candidates should be able to demonstrate good team building skills and must hold a full, clean driving licence (holding a PCV licence would be a distinct advantage). 

The weekly pay for the role is £593.78 based on a 39 hour week, plus shift premiums if applicable.  There may be the opportunity to work some overtime and there will also be the requirement to work both the early and the late shift rota that will include some weekends.

FACILITIES ASSISTANT

We are now looking to recruit a full time Facilities Support to work closely with the Facilities Manager and engineering teams across the business. This is a wide and varied role that would suit someone interested in facilities management and building related challenges, including planning applications, small works and furniture orders.

You will need to be a strong communicator, both written and verbal and have good PC skills. Some of your responsibilities will include:-

  • Establishing a diary system to ensure that routine maintenance takes place on or before the due date, this will mean working closely with the Engineering support team.
  • Responsibility for managing some of the smaller contractors and works undertaken, this may include furniture delivery and set up or possibly small building/repair projects.
  • Building relationships with suppliers, particularly those that are used regularly, to enable you to obtain quotes for any future works that may be required and negotiate rates on both purchases and works to be undertaken.
  • Assisting the Depots and the Facility Manager with any reactive maintenance that is required this may include arranging minor works and explaining why to the Facilities Manager and then recording the associated costs
  • Building strong relationships with the Depot based teams and ensure that you are able to raise Purchase Orders and receipt only when works are completed satisfactorily.
  • Provide additional support with facilities related issues to all the Tower Transit locations and staff.
  • Be proactive in understanding the business and the roles that individuals play in
  • Undertake other tasks to assist the Facilities Manager.

Essentially you will be a strong administrator and an organised individual who is able to manage documents in a logical and practical manner. You must be able to work accurately and an interest in facilities or a similar discipline would be a distinct advantage. It is essential that you are flexible and adaptable to the changing business demands and have a can do attitude.

ASSISTANT TO FORWARD ALLOCATOR

Closing Date: 02 March 2015

We are now looking to recruit a full time Assistant to support the Forward Allocator at Lea Interchange Depot. This is a key role and you will be responsible for helping to ensure that a safe, punctual, reliable and cost effective service is delivered at all times.

You will need to be a strong communicator, particularly verbal communication skills as you will be required to communicate with a wide variety of staff across the business. Key roles and responsibilities may include:-

Ensuring that drivers accurately record their absences on First Care and notify the Staff Managers of any staff who have not reported absent and have failed to report for duty.

  • Assisting with duty coverage on a day to day basis.
  • Dealing with driver enquiries relating to duty allocation, holiday and pay.
  • Responding to external calls which may include complaints from passengers and passenger queries, take responsibility for dealing with and resolving the complaints.
  • Logging any lost property and dealing with any customer enquiries relating to lost property. If possible identify and contact owners of any lost property.
  • Undertake regular audits of Driving Licences and Driver Qualification Cards ensuring 6 monthly checks are recorded on the HR System and if required arranging over 45 Driver Medicals and raising the relevant Purchase Order.
  • Establishing strong working relationships with the Engineering Team and the iBus Controllers to ensure that resources across the business are maximised.
  • Responsible for facilitating the collection of Uniform and staff passes by drivers.
  • Undertake other tasks to assist the Forward Allocator.

Essentially you will be a strong administrator and an organised individual who is able to effectively support the Allocator. You must be able to work accurately and knowledge of Drivers hours and the Working Time Regulations is essential. A flexible and adaptable approach is required so you can adjust to the changing business demands.

OPERATIONS DIRECTOR SUPPORT

We are now looking to recruit a full time support to work closely with the Operations Director and other Directors when required to provide assistance and some minimal holiday cover. This is a wide and varied role that will enable you to work with a variety of people across the business and build an understanding of how the operation works.

You will need to be a strong communicator, both written and verbal and have good PC skills. It would be a distinct advantage to have an interest in social media and be able to use this medium to promote the company. Some of your responsibilities will include:-

  • Being pro active and forward thinking to meetings that are in the diary, ensuring that the relevant documents are prepared and available.
  • Responsible for collating the Board Report information, ensuring that the Operations Team update the required information in a timely manner ahead of the due date.
  • Responsible for taking minutes at a variety of meetings – this may include action points at the Health and Safety meetings, or minutes at employee appeals.
  • Be proactive in understanding the business and the roles that individuals play in contributing to company success. Key areas may include, HR, Recruitment and Training, and policies etc.
  • Responsible for providing support to other operational teams including HR and Recruitment and Training, this will include covering for the administrators.
  • When required undertake research on behalf of the Operations Director – this may include research training solutions or competitor information.
  • Undertake other tasks to assist the Ops Director including preparing reports as and when required.

Essentially you will be a strong administrator and an organised individual who is able to manage diary and documents in a logical and practical manner. You must be able to work accurately, particularly when updating spread sheets and a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office - Outlook/ Word/ Excel is essential as is a flexible and adaptable approach.

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE ASSISTANT

Closing Date: 20 February 2015

A part time vacancy now exists for an Accounts Payable Assistant, based at Lea Interchange Depot.  The individual will ideally be able to work three full days per week either Monday to Wednesday or  Tuesday to Thursday, although there may be some flexibility.  Additional hours may also be required to cover holidays.  

This is a small team and you must be able to work with the existing staff and be able to communicate effectively with Depot based staff.  Knowledge of accounts payable is not essential but a willingness and ability to learn coupled with strong attention to detail is a must.  Some of your responsibilities will include:-

  • Matching and checking invoices received by the Accounts Payable Team.
  • Scanning invoices into the system and ensuring that they are organised in such a way as to make it easy for all staff to locate invoices if needed.
  • Manual filing of paper based invoices, ensuring the system is logical and easy to use.
  • Responsible for responding to any Tower Transit suppliers to promptly and accurately to resolve any payment queries that may have.
  • Undertaking a variety of clerical and filing duties as necessary ensuring accuracy and high standards at all times.
  • To undertake any additional reasonable duties at the request of your Line Manager.

Essentially you will be a strong administrator a knowledge of accounts is not a requirement as full training will be given to the right candidate.  You must be able to work accurately as it is essential to ensure the correct payment of invoices.  Data input experience would be a distinct advantage and it is essential that you have a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office - Outlook/ Word/ Excel. Good verbal communication skills are necessary and we are looking for a flexible and adaptable approach as there may be an occasional need to work outside of the core hours.
